💼 About This Role

You'll lead the design, analysis, and development of lighter-than-air platforms for next-gen autonomous defense systems. Your work will directly impact vehicle architecture and flight-ready hardware through hands-on prototyping and testing. This role offers the chance to drive rapid iteration cycles in a high-stakes defense startup.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end design of balloon envelopes including geometry and material selection.
• Perform detailed analysis of pressurized systems: stress, creep, fatigue, failure modes.
• Design for manufacturability including seaming, patterning, and joining methods.
• Develop and execute test campaigns (ground + flight) to validate models.

📋 Requirements

• Experience with soft goods/flexible structures (fabrics, membranes, inflatables, etc.).
• 1+ years of mechanical engineering experience designing and prototyping mechanical systems.
• Strong skills in 3D modeling and CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks).
• Experience with programming languages (Python, MATLAB, C++) for analytical modeling.

• Background in high-altitude or atmospheric systems.
• Familiarity with textile engineering, coatings, or permeability/diffusion modeling.
• Experience designing for extreme environments (thermal, UV, pressure cycling).
