Description

As a hands-on principal engineer, you will architect and evolve Klaviyo's cloud platform—spanning Kubernetes, networking, storage, CI/CD, and observability—to enable fast, safe, and reliable delivery for product teams. You'll set technical standards, define SLOs, drive incident excellence, and embed AI into the developer experience.

Requirements

• 10+ years building and operating cloud platforms with multi-region HA and SLO rigor
• Deep expertise in Kubernetes, service mesh, Terraform, CI/CD, and production observability
• Experience with databases and storage systems including SQL, NoSQL, object/block/file storage
• Proven use of AI tools in platform engineering such as copilot workflows and AIOps
• Ability to lead via design reviews, incident excellence, and SLO/error-budget trade-offs

Responsibilities

• Architect and evolve Kubernetes platform, service mesh, networking, storage, and CI/CD pipelines
• Define platform SLOs and use error budgets to guide reliability vs. velocity trade-offs
• Improve developer velocity with measurable results in build/deploy times and local dev ergonomics
• Lead capacity planning and build guardrails for cost, security, and compliance
• Embed AI into developer experience including code generation, observability, and incident response
