🛠 Tech Stack

💼 About This Role

You'll build the low-latency, high-reliability communication systems powering FieldAI's robotic platforms, enabling seamless real-time interaction between robots and remote operators over cellular and edge-to-cloud networks. Your work will directly determine how robots perceive and operate in dynamic, unpredictable field environments. You'll tackle hard problems like network handoffs and intermittent connectivity while preserving responsiveness.

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Build low-latency bidirectional audio/video streaming for telepresence and teleoperation
  • Design real-time communication over private 5G and heterogeneous networks
  • Monitor and improve network performance (latency, jitter, packet loss, throughput) in dynamic environments
  • Implement QoS strategies, congestion control, and adaptive streaming for reliable operation
  • Develop and deploy communication systems directly on robotic platforms

📋 Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong experience building real-time communication systems (e.g., TCP/UDP, RTP/RTCP, WebRTC)
  • Solid understanding of wireless networking fundamentals (latency, jitter, handoffs, bandwidth constraints)
  • Experience with Linux networking tools (e.g., tcpdump, iperf, ss, iw)

✨ Nice to Have

  • Experience deploying systems over cellular networks (LTE/5G), including private 5G setups
  • Background in telepresence or teleoperation systems
  • Familiarity with media streaming frameworks (e.g., WebRTC, GStreamer, RTP pipelines)
