💼 About This Role
You'll serve as Waymo's primary engineering liaison with safety regulators in Japan, working closely with Policy, Legal, and other teams. You'll also collaborate with the US Field Safety team to identify and analyze safety issues for autonomous vehicle operations in Japan. This role offers the opportunity to shape safety strategy for a pioneering autonomous driving company.
🎯 What You'll Do
- Serve as primary technical liaison with Japanese automotive and traffic safety regulators.
- Establish and maintain proactive outreach with MLIT, NPA, and TMPD.
- Collaborate with US Field Safety team to identify and analyze safety issues for Japan.
- Bring local perspective to prioritize issues impacting Waymo's Japan operations.
📋 Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
- 10+ years of engineering or technical experience in automotive or transportation.
- Experience with Japan's automotive/transportation regulatory framework.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in Japanese.

- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering or related technical field.
- Experience interacting with automotive and traffic safety regulators.
- Familiarity with autonomous vehicle technology.
