You'll design, qualify, and scale high-power diode laser technologies for next-generation fusion laser systems at a fusion energy startup. You'll work at the intersection of physics, engineering, and industrialization to advance performance, reliability, and manufacturability. This role offers the chance to drive clean energy innovation and collaborate with top-tier scientists.
🎯 What You'll Do
- Design and evaluate high-power laser diode emitters, bars, and stacks.
- Develop and execute electro-optical, thermal, and reliability test protocols.
- Commission and operate automated test benches for high-volume characterization.
- Lead accelerated life testing and build predictive lifetime models.
📋 Requirements
- PhD in optical, electrical, or mechanical engineering or physics.
- Deep experience in semiconductor laser physics, packaging, or device characterization.
- Proven experience designing laser diode test setups including optical, thermal, and electrical diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of thermal management and reliability physics.
✨ Nice to Have
- Experience with diode-pumped solid-state lasers (DPSSL) or high-average-power laser systems.
- Experience with thermal, optical, or reliability modeling tools.
