Description

As a Staff/Principal Engineer on the Perception Capabilities team, you will lead the development of cutting-edge perception software for self-driving vehicles using computer vision and deep learning. Your work will span detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking, and you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex 'long tail' challenges like synthetic data generation and model optimization.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in ML, CS, Robotics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong leadership in executing large technical initiatives
• Track record of successful interdisciplinary, product-focused engineering
• Broad understanding of deep learning algorithms and architectures
• Fluency in Python, PyTorch, and scientific computing libraries

Responsibilities

• Lead development of perception solutions that interface with downstream autonomy modules
• Analyze perception subsystem performance to proactively identify limitations
• Document potential hazards and lead cross-team mitigation efforts
• Collaborate on innovative solutions for long-tail challenges (synthetic data, data mining, language embeddings)
• Optionally optimize and deploy models to vehicle hardware
