💼 About This Role

You'll lead and grow a team of backend engineers owning the core pricing infrastructure at Upstart, a leading AI lending marketplace. Your team's systems directly impact revenue and operate under strict latency, correctness, and reliability requirements. You'll drive technical strategy across legacy and next-gen systems while ensuring production safety and rigorous validation.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Lead, coach, and grow a team of backend engineers and an engineering manager.
• Own team execution and delivery across multiple quarters for pricing systems.
• Guide technical strategy balancing short-term execution with long-term architectural goals.
• Ensure changes are production-safe, observable, and rigorously validated.

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent).
• 8+ years of experience including at least 3 years of direct people management.
• Experience in pricing, fintech, lending, payments, marketplaces, or real-time decisioning systems.
• Deep experience leading backend and distributed systems in production environments.
