You will oversee evening news coverage at the Chicago Sun-Times, assigning stories to general assignment reporters and editing their work for print and online to ensure high journalistic standards.

Requirements

• 2+ years of news editing experience
• Outstanding news judgment and leadership skills
• Ability to work evening and weekend schedule (Tuesday-Saturday)
• Mastery of AP style and English grammar
• Fluency in multiplatform journalism

Responsibilities

• Edit stories for online and print in a fast-paced environment
• Coordinate coverage with topic desks and assign stories
• Monitor breaking news and evaluate for Sun-Times coverage
• Review social media and email for story ideas and sources
• Communicate with print production and audio editors
