You'll shape Grafana Labs' work in the OpenTelemetry ecosystem, contributing to strategic projects and upstream open source communities. You'll define how Grafana supports OpenTelemetry adoption across observability. This role combines strong engineering with technical leadership and community collaboration.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Contribute to OpenTelemetry components and related open source projects.
• Help define and execute Grafana Labs’ technical strategy for OpenTelemetry.
• Collaborate with upstream maintainers and users in open source communities.
• Build clean, robust, performant software for observability.

📋 Requirements

• Strong experience with at least one systems or backend programming language (e.g., Golang, Rust, Java).
• Experience with observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, or systems engineering.
• Comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous technical problems from discovery through delivery.

• Existing involvement in OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or broader observability ecosystem.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects.
• Experience setting technical direction for a project or team.
