Description

As an Ubuntu Security Engineer, you'll join the security team to protect Ubuntu users by analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities in open source packages. You'll collaborate with internal teams and the open source community, track threats, and build tools to enhance security.

Requirements

• Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and fixing techniques
• Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
• Proficiency in one or more of C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Analyze, fix, and test vulnerabilities in open source packages
• Track vulnerabilities in the Ubuntu ecosystem using internal tools
• Collaborate with Ubuntu community and upstream developers on vulnerability patches
• Audit source code for vulnerabilities
• Build features and tools to strengthen product security
