Description

You will ensure the thermal reliability of Raptor components through finite element analysis and first principles, owning thermal design from initial analysis to validation with test data. Collaborate across disciplines to meet engine and vehicle objectives for the world's most advanced rocket engine powering Starship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline or physics
  • 1+ years of experience in thermal analysis (academic, extracurricular, or internship)
  • Proficiency in FEA software and post-processing
  • Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and/or ANSYS Workbench
  • Hand calculations to validate and improve models

Responsibilities

  • Conduct, document, and present thermal analyses on Raptor hardware using FEA and first principles
  • Own thermal design from initial analysis to validation with ground tests, flight, and orbital data
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians across design, production, test, and reliability disciplines
  • Validate and verify models using test data to ensure predictions meet design criteria
  • Support ongoing design, manufacturing, and reliability improvements
