💼 About This Role

You'll join OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partnering with leading semiconductor companies to deploy AI systems across the chip design lifecycle. You'll serve as the physical design SME, helping translate customer needs into AI-assisted solutions and mentoring the broader team. Over time you'll grow into a customer-facing role building production systems.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Serve as physical design SME for semiconductor customer engagements
• Partner with FDEs during discovery and scoping to translate pain points into plans
• Guide AI-assisted solutions across floorplanning, PnR, timing closure, signoff
• Mentor the broader team on physical design concepts and EDA tooling

📋 Requirements

• BS with 7+ years or MS with 5+ years in physical design for complex ASICs
• Demonstrated success bringing designs through tapeout with hands-on PnR, timing, signoff
• Deep familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools for synthesis, PNR, STA, physical verification
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Tcl, or similar
