Description

You will gain hands-on experience in a small animal practice under veterinary supervision, working alongside the team on cases including surgery, medical management, and wellness care. This flexible program (2-8 weeks) helps you build practice-readiness through direct patient care and mentorship.

Requirements

• Enrolled in an accredited DVM program
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Must carry professional liability insurance (AVMA PLIT available free for student members)

Responsibilities

• Gather histories and perform physical examinations
• Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans
• Scrub in to surgery
• Assist in managing medical cases
• Provide wellness care
• Develop client communication skills
• Polish technical skills
• Produce appropriate medical records (SOAPs)
