💼 About This Role

You'll join the Managed Databases Team to build and run the services and infrastructure for DigitalOcean's DBaaS product. Your core impact will be scaling the database platform to meet the needs of a growing customer base. This role stands out for its focus on distributed systems and Kubernetes environments.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Develop external customer-facing Managed Database products (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
• Design scalable backend services for database lifecycle management
• Provide technical leadership across multiple projects and teams
• Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on best practices

📋 Requirements

• 14+ years of experience in fast-paced agile product development
• 5+ years as a subject-matter expert with MySQL databases
• Strong knowledge of microservices using Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience building APIs (REST, gRPC) and service-oriented architectures

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with Temporal workflow engine
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases and paradigms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and frameworks
