Description

As a Cathode Electrode Engineer, you will evaluate new cathode materials for high-energy cells with lithium metal anodes, lead electrode design and process optimization, and assemble/test coin and pouch cells to drive performance improvements.

Requirements

• MS in materials science, chemical engineering, or related field with focus on electrochemistry
• Knowledge of lithium ion battery technologies including cathode material selection, electrode fabrication, cell design, and testing
• Skills in testing coin and pouch cells
• Knowledge of DOE approach to design and interpret experiments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Evaluate cathode materials from suppliers and run screening processes
• Design cathode electrode formulation to meet performance goals
• Assemble lithium metal coin and pouch cells and conduct electrochemical testing
• Perform crystal structure, microstructure, and impedance characterization
• Conduct cycle life testing and failure mode analysis
