Description

You will oversee daily client services, supervise advocacy work, and mentor staff in the Government Benefits Unit at Queens Legal Services. You'll also manage external relations with funders and elected officials, and support contract compliance for grants and contracts.

Requirements

• Advocacy experience in government benefits including Public Assistance, HASA, SNAP, Medicaid, SSD, SSI, Unemployment Insurance, and Housing Benefit programs
• Experience supervising or mentoring advocates in legal work, including client management and case strategy
• Demonstrated passion for social justice including racial, disability, LGBTQ+, HIV, gender, and economic justice
• Experience working with low-income communities and communities of color
• Familiarity with Queens communities

Responsibilities

• Daily oversight of client services including collaborative supervision of advocates and intake staff
• Coordinate and develop funding opportunities with NYC and state elected officials, foundations, and donors
• Oversee compliance of contracts and grants supporting the GB Unit, including reporting and performance
• Train and mentor staff in the GB Unit
• Represent QLS at public, community, and funder events
