💼 About This Role

You'll join the Research Data Platform team to build tools that Anthropic's researchers use daily to manage, query, and analyze data for training and evaluating frontier models. Your work will directly power internal applications for monitoring RL runs, exploring finetuning datasets, and understanding experiments. This role offers a unique opportunity to embed with research teams and build ML-specific tooling alongside them, leveraging existing data infrastructure.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Build and operate data pipelines from research training runs to queryable storage
• Design APIs, libraries, and web interfaces for data management and exploration
• Develop dataset management, cataloging, and provenance tooling
• Embed with research teams to understand workflows and ship solutions quickly

📋 Requirements

• Significant software engineering experience building data-intensive applications or internal tooling
• Experience working directly with users and iterating on requirements
• Results-oriented with flexibility and impact focus
• Interest in machine learning research and societal impacts

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale ETL, columnar storage, and query engines (e.g., Spark, DuckDB)
• Experience with high-volume time series data ingestion and storage
• Experience with data cataloging, lineage, or ML experiment tracking
