Description

As a Senior Developer Experience Engineer at Justworks, you will own and evolve CI/CD infrastructure, build a developer portal with Backstage, create golden path templates, and develop internal tooling to accelerate engineering workflows for a team of 300+ engineers. This is a foundational role shaping both technical foundations and team culture.

Requirements

• Tooling-focused engineer obsessed with developer productivity
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and automation
• Comfortable debugging flaky workflows and designing internal CLIs
• Deep understanding of reducing friction and cognitive load for engineers
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve CI/CD infrastructure (GitHub Actions, deployment pipelines) to improve build times and deployment frequency
• Build and maintain developer portal (Backstage) with service catalog, golden path templates, and TechDocs
• Create golden path templates for Go, Rails, and Vue.js services
• Build and maintain internal developer tooling to accelerate engineering workflows
• Configure and roll out AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) with organizational guardrails
