You'll lead the Reliability Engineering team at Whatnot, building distributed systems and developer-facing tools that make reliability a built-in property. You'll own the technical direction, develop strategic roadmaps, and ensure scalable and resilient systems as the company grows. This role offers significant leadership scope, possibly including site leadership for Poland.

🎯 What You'll Do

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, supporting technical growth and career development.
  • Set technical direction and quality standards while empowering senior ICs.
  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for reliability engineering.
  • Build and operationalize best practices for SLOs, monitoring, and incident response.

πŸ“‹ Requirements

  • 10+ years of industry experience, ideally in infrastructure or platform engineering.
  • 5+ years managing engineering teams, with experience leading managers or multiple teams a plus.
  • Proven track record building and operating large-scale distributed systems with strong reliability practices.
  • Deep technical grounding in SLO design, monitoring/alerting, incident tooling, or traffic control.

  • Experience leading teams that ship developer-facing platforms or internal tools.
  • Experience with load testing and chaos engineering.
