Description

You will own the AI/ML engineering stack for Spectrum, a JetBrains startup incubator project that builds a unified ontology from code, docs, and issues to enable AI agents to search and reason. You'll design ML/LLM solutions for data ingestion, knowledge extraction, and retrieval, establish MLOps practices, and help grow the ML team. This role combines startup autonomy with backing from a leading developer tools company.

Requirements

• Proven track record as an ML/AI Lead
• At least 5 years in ML/AI systems with 2+ years focused on LLMs and generative AI
• Deep understanding of LLM ecosystem including model architectures and fine-tuning
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, LLM pipeline design, agentic frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LlamaIndex), vector databases, RAG, and deploying LLM-powered applications
• Strong Python skills; Kotlin knowledge a plus

Responsibilities

• Design and build ML/LLM solution for data ingestion, knowledge extraction, retrieval, and reasoning
• Create datasets, metrics, and pipelines for measurable improvements
• Architect agents for context retrieval, knowledge extraction, and data alignment
• Establish MLOps practices including orchestration, observability, and experiment tracking
• Collaborate on system design and research agenda, and grow the ML team
