💼 About This Role

You'll design and build the distributed systems powering Espresso's AI-driven optimization engine, working on real-time scheduling, workload execution, and internal compute environments. You'll own major architectural components and drive reliability and performance improvements across the platform. This role offers deep systems work at a well-funded early-stage startup backed by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Design and scale distributed execution and scheduling systems
• Develop internal compute environments for safe workload offloading
• Implement compiler-style analysis and optimization of SQL workloads
• Build infrastructure and data pipelines for ML modeling and product features

📋 Requirements

• 7+ years software engineering experience
• Strong fundamentals in systems design and performance engineering
• Ability to own complex technical projects end-to-end
• Comfort operating across a broad range of infrastructure challenges

• Experience at small startups
• Background in data warehouse cost optimization
• Experience with workload orchestration or query execution
