Description
As a Major Gifts Officer at the ACLU of New Jersey, you will build and manage a portfolio of 75-100 major donors, developing relationships and soliciting gifts between $10,000 and $500,000 to support civil liberties work. You will collaborate with a high-performing fundraising team and work to expand major and planned gifts across the state.
Requirements
- Significant fund development experience with at least two years of Major Gift Officer responsibilities cultivating and soliciting donors for gifts of $10,000+.
- Demonstrated experience creating and implementing major donor strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for building productive professional relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to distill complex themes into concise talking points and presentations.
- Demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and the ACLU-NJ's mission.
- Strong self-motivation and initiative.
- Creative and resilient mindset.
- Experience with donor research tools.
- Experience with a donor database or sales CRM strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel within New Jersey.
Responsibilities
- Significantly expand the number of major and planned gifts from ACLU supporters in New Jersey.
- Develop and implement identification, qualification, and cultivation strategies for a portfolio of individuals with the capacity to make major and individual gifts ($10,000 - $500,000).
- Lead the solicitation process for major gifts in partnership with the development team and national ACLU partners.
- Participate in Development team meetings to coordinate prospect review and discuss strategies.
- Maintain accurate donor records in the ACLU database.
- Collaborate across the organization to build a culture of philanthropy.
- Serve as an effective ACLU-NJ spokesperson and representative.
