Description
You will lead the hands-on build, integration, and testing of spacecraft mechanisms such as deployment systems, actuators, and hinges. This role involves mentoring junior technicians and collaborating with engineering teams to improve designs and production workflows. You'll work in a manual assembly environment with high-reliability flight hardware, supporting satellite production from build through environmental testing.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Aerospace Technology, or equivalent hands-on training
- 5-15 years of hands-on experience with high-reliability hardware in aerospace or satellite environments
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly, integration, and test in manual production environments
- Experience with space-qualified mechanisms (deployment systems, release devices, actuators) preferred
- Ability to read engineering drawings and work in cleanroom environments
Responsibilities
- Assemble, integrate, and test spacecraft mechanisms and mechanical subsystems
- Perform integration of mechanisms assemblies onto spacecraft structures
- Support developmental, qualification, and acceptance testing including vibration, shock, and TVAC
- Identify hardware anomalies and escalate for investigation; provide feedback for process improvements
- Lead complex assembly activities and mentor junior technicians
