Description

You will build and lead a new ML Acceleration team at Motional, driving strategy and execution to significantly speed up ML model training and enable rapid hot-patching for autonomous vehicles. You will recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing team, define the technical vision, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate acceleration solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's in CS or equivalent practical experience
• 8+ years software engineering, 5+ years focused on ML systems and model performance optimization
• 3+ years in a technical lead or management role with a track record of building high-performing teams
• Deep expertise in ML frameworks (PyTorch or JAX) and performance profiling/optimization
• Strong programming in Python; C++ experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and manage a high-performing ML acceleration engineering team
• Define technical vision and strategy for ML acceleration across the organization
• Design and implement scalable ML acceleration solutions including data pipeline and distributed training optimization
• Collaborate with ML research, platform, and product teams to integrate acceleration solutions
• Measure impact of acceleration efforts and identify further optimization opportunities
