Description

You will own the design, testing, integration, and on-orbit operations for the Starshield Mini Space Laser, ensuring seamless integration with satellite manufacturers' spacecraft to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity on orbit.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline
• 5+ years hands-on lab or professional experience in laser technology, electrical/mechanical systems, or testing
• Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance
• Experience with laser communication system design, integration, and test
• Knowledge of free-space optical principles and precision metrology techniques

Responsibilities

• Apply expertise to laser communication system development, including design, analysis, and validation
• Act as primary point of contact for space lasers definition, requirements, and development
• Represent Starshield space lasers to the US Government and as responsible owner within SpaceX
• Participate in verification testing including environmental qualification and performance characterization
• Define requirements for high-data-rate laser communication systems in challenging environmental conditions
