💼 About This Role

You'll join the Cloud Database Engineering team to automate AWS Aurora instances and build highly available database solutions for Marqeta's card issuing platform, processing over 5 billion transactions annually.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for database services
• Design high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Automate database lifecycle with Terraform and orchestration tools
• Optimize database performance through query tuning and indexing

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a backend engineer
• Cloud native databases (AWS Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB)
• IaC and automation (Terraform, AWS Step Functions)
• Python proficiency

✨ Nice to Have

• Logical/physical migrations and blue-green switchovers
• Java basics
• Experience in payments or FinTech
