Tech Stack

Description

You will lead the structural simulation strategy for Apollo, a humanoid robot, defining the architecture and methodology to transition from concept to validated hardware with minimal prototyping. Your work will directly impact mass optimization, dynamic performance, and fatigue life prediction, ensuring every gram of material earns its keep in high-DOF joints and multi-body dynamics.

Requirements

  • 15+ years experience in structural simulation and mechanical design with robotics, aerospace, or automotive.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Ansys, Abaqus, or similar simulation suites.
  • Deep mastery of solid mechanics, vibration, heat transfer, and multi-body dynamics.
  • Experience with high-speed moving mechanisms or lightweighting for mobile platforms preferred.
  • PhD or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field focusing on Computational Mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Define simulation roadmap and software toolchain for mechanical engineering team.
  • Shift culture to simulation-driven design, informing initial architectural trade-offs.
  • Develop company-wide standards for material models, boundary conditions, and safety factors.
  • Lead non-linear dynamic FEA for high-velocity impacts and transient dynamic loads.
  • Own fatigue life models for primary structure, optimizing for millions of gait cycles.
