💼 About This Role

You'll join a small founding team building Baseten Voice AI, bringing state-of-the-art open source Voice AI models into production for customers across productivity, customer service, and more. You'll own the in-house inference stack from roadmap through implementation, making a meaningful impact on people's daily lives. This role offers high ownership and close partnership with Forward Deployed Engineers and Model Performance Engineers.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own Voice AI product areas end-to-end from architecture to production operations.
• Design and build real-time, large-scale model serving systems for STT, TTS, and voice agents.
• Drive cross-team collaboration to solve full-stack technical problems.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, design docs, and technical leadership.

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• Proven track record owning production-grade real-time systems where tail latency matters.
• Proficient coding in one or more programming or scripting languages.
• Interest in ML/AI infrastructure and willingness to learn.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience implementing pipeline-level model runtime optimizations like dynamic batching.
• Experience building developer platforms (SDKs, CLIs, APIs) for ML or infrastructure.
• Familiarity with speech/audio ML models (STT, TTS, speech-to-speech).
