Description

You will use your cryptography and Linux security skills to enhance Ubuntu's security foundation, work on FIPS 140-3 and Common Criteria certifications, and develop automation for DISA-STIG and CIS benchmark compliance. Collaborate with Canonical's kernel team and influence security culture in a remote-first environment.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with low-level Linux cryptography APIs and debugging
• Excellent software engineering fundamentals, including C development
• Linux system administration and shell scripting
• Knowledge of security and cryptography fundamentals with secure coding experience
• Experience working with open source libraries

Responsibilities

• Achieve and maintain security certifications (FIPS, Common Criteria)
• Extend Linux cryptographic components (OpenSSL, Libgcrypt, GnuTLS) for certification
• Collaborate with external consultants to test kernel and crypto modules
• Develop security hardening benchmarks and audit/remediation automation for Ubuntu
• Contribute to Ubuntu and upstream projects
