💼 About This Role

You'll join our Cloud Database Engineering team to automate AWS Aurora instances and build highly available database solutions for Marqeta's card issuing platform. You'll drive high availability and disaster recovery architecture while mentoring junior engineers. This role is at the heart of a platform processing over 5 billion transactions annually.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for database services
• Design high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Automate database lifecycle using Terraform and AWS Step Functions
• Collaborate with application teams on query performance and tuning

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years as a backend engineer or 7+ without degree
• AWS cloud-native databases (Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
• Terraform for infrastructure as code and automation
• Python proficiency for scripting and tooling

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with blue-green switchovers and logical migrations
• Database fleet management and AI tooling fluency
• Payments or FinTech domain experience
