Description

You will own technical direction and delivery for your team at Hebbia, writing code and reviewing pull requests while leading engineers. You set roadmap priorities, define architecture, and collaborate with product and design to ship fast. You also hire, coach, and grow your team, and work directly with customers.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience at a venture-backed startup or top-tier tech company.
• At least 2 years in a technical lead or engineering management role.
• Strong systems design and architecture skills; experience with distributed systems.
• Experience building and scaling backend systems, data pipelines, or platform infrastructure in production.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and modern backend technologies (Python, TypeScript, Go).

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction and delivery for your team, set roadmap priorities, define architecture, and make tradeoffs between speed and quality.
• Write and review code meaningfully in the codebase.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers; run effective 1:1s and give direct feedback.
• Drive operational excellence: monitoring, incident response, on-call, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product and design to translate customer problems into technical solutions; own product direction when PM is unavailable.
