Description

As part of the Starship team, you will create layouts for in-house PCB designs, partnering closely with hardware engineers to develop schematics and optimize designs for manufacturability and performance. This role involves contributing to advanced electronics for space applications, from radio phased arrays to power converters, in a fast-paced environment aiming to enable human life on Mars.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional experience with PCB layout
• Experience with Mentor Xpedition and/or Altium Designer (Xpedition preferred)
• Experience with mixed analog/digital designs, high speed buses, FPGA, DRAM, CPU, power supplies, DC-DC converters
• Proficiency in generating fabrication outputs and DFM/DFA analysis
• Understanding of design for manufacturability, assembly, and test

Responsibilities

• Determine layer stack-up, component placement, routing feasibility, and signal routing for digital, analog, RF, and power conversion PCBs
• Perform multilayer PCB layout (20+ layers) with high-speed routing, controlled impedance, and power/ground plane design
• Conduct pre- and post-layout SI/PI simulations to mitigate crosstalk, reflections, and EMI/EMC issues
• Produce fabrication deliverables (Gerber, ODB++, IPC-2581, drill files, stack-up drawings, assembly files)
• Collaborate with mechanical, thermal, RF, and test engineers on stack-up planning, thermal vias, shielding, and enclosure integration
