Description

You will build, optimize, and maintain high-performance video processing workflows for Roku's Cloud TV Platform, impacting millions of users worldwide by delivering a best-in-class streaming TV experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years programming experience
• Expert-level knowledge of FFmpeg or Gstreamer toolchains
• Experience with hardware encoder/decoder libraries (NVENC, Vulkan)
• Strong understanding of compression theory
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize FFmpeg-based encoding pipelines for VOD and Live workflows in cloud environments
• Develop and validate encoding presets for H.264, HEVC, and AV1 codecs
• Implement advanced encoding strategies like multi-pass, CRF tuning, and per-title optimizations
• Benchmark video quality using VMAF and other metrics
• Build and maintain adaptive streaming packaging workflows (HLS, DASH, CMAF)
