Description
You will create high-quality keyframe animations for game characters, creatures, or props. You'll collaborate closely with gameplay designers and technical artists to ensure fluid, impactful animations that enhance gameplay feel and match the project's artistic style.
Requirements
- 3+ years of game industry 3D animation experience, with at least one complete game project
- Proficient in Autodesk Maya animation module
- Deep understanding of the 12 principles of animation, especially body mechanics and weight
- Expert in hand-key frame animation, able to handle stylized character dynamics
- Strong communication skills to understand feedback and iterate quickly; must provide demo reel
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D keyframe animations (idle, movement, combat, hit, death) in Maya
- Reproduce the art style (e.g., American cartoon, strong impact, exaggerated deformation) and ensure actions reflect character personality
- Import animation assets into game engines (Unreal/Unity) and configure blend trees and state machines
- Collaborate with gameplay designers to optimize animation timing, spacing, and responsiveness for gameplay feel
- Fix animation issues (intersections, sliding, jitter) and ensure stable delivery
