Description

You will provide physical therapy services to students with disabilities in school settings, evaluating gross motor skills, developing IEP-based treatment plans, and collaborating with educators and families to support student independence and participation.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current state license to practice as a Physical Therapist.
  • Certification from the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT), if applicable.
  • Experience working with children and/or in a school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, educational relevance of physical therapy services.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Must have satisfactory background checks.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle physical aspects of job.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate students' gross motor, mobility, balance, posture, and physical functioning as related to their educational needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans as part of students’ IEPs.
  • Provide direct physical therapy services to students in various school environments.
  • Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, school nurses, and other staff.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, contribute to evaluations, and maintain documentation in compliance with regulations.
  • Train school staff on techniques to assist students with mobility or positioning.
  • Recommend adaptive equipment or modifications to improve participation and safety.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress toward physical therapy goals.
  • Cultivate a positive workplace atmosphere and complete training as required.
