💼 About This Role

You'll own the full people function at Highbeam, running people operations, recruiting coordination, and payroll for a fast-growing fintech startup. You'll refine processes and embed policies into AI agents to scale the team. This role is based in our Toronto office.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Run payroll, contractor payments, and bonus cycles across US and Canada
• Own employee onboarding end-to-end: offer letters, I-9s, payroll setup
• Manage employee lifecycle transitions with care and professionalism
• Own candidate experience from first touch to offer, coordinating recruiting logistics

📋 Requirements

• 3-5 years in people operations, HR, or business operations
• Experience running multi-jurisdiction payroll (US and Canada)
• Comfortable with employment lawyers, payroll tools, and ATS tools
• High attention to detail and discretion with sensitive information

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience supporting H-1B or other immigration processes
• Familiarity with Canadian employment law and ROE filings
• Interest in using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) to automate workflows
