💼 About This Role

You'll specify, implement, and optimize adaptive optics systems in a deep UV pulsed laser for inertial fusion energy. You'll develop optimization routines, collaborate with vendors on next-gen AO platforms, and integrate hardware onto the laser system. This role is key to advancing clean fusion power.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Develop optimization routines for adaptive optics loop.
• Collaborate with vendors on deformable mirrors and wavefront sensors.
• Align, calibrate, and run adaptive optics hardware on laser system.
• Characterize optical environment to set AO system requirements.
• Leverage wave-optics propagation code to model laser systems.

📋 Requirements

• B.S. in optical science/engineering or related field.
• 5+ years optical engineering experience related to adaptive optics.
• Experience with multi-disciplinary optical, opto-mechanical, software, controls systems.
• Experience developing AO systems using wavefront sensors and deformable mirrors.

✨ Nice to Have

• M.S. or Ph.D. in optical engineering/science.
• 10+ years optical engineering experience related to adaptive optics.
• Experience with turbulence characterization and Fourier-based wave optics models.
