Description

You will bridge policy mandates and technical execution by building modular, model-agnostic systems for government services. You'll rapidly prototype tools, architect AI infrastructure, and establish Code for America as a leader in responsible AI through thought leadership and mentorship.

Requirements

• Expertise in rapid prototyping and experimental development
• Experience with AI system architecture and infrastructure
• Ability to collaborate with policy and domain experts
• Strong skills in documentation and knowledge sharing
• Hands-on code review and mentoring experience

Responsibilities

• Build and ship high-impact experiments like digital lockers or AI-augmented procurement tools
• Translate vague policy objectives into robust, working systems using AI/ML patterns
• Architect foundational tools and data layers that interoperate with legacy systems
• Establish thought leadership through publications, talks, and open-source contributions
• Maintain system health through code reviews and ensure explainability for vulnerable populations
