💼 About This Role

You'll lead Kpler's Supply & Demand crew, building the real-time global supply and demand computation engine for oil, LNG, and grains. You'll own end-to-end delivery of 12+ production systems, including data pipelines, ML-driven QA, and cloud infrastructure. The role focuses on sustaining a high-performing, autonomous team as product scope expands.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Build and sustain an autonomous crew owning systems end-to-end from data pipelines to APIs.
• Champion SLO-driven reliability with Datadog and proactive observability.
• Structure work with clear milestones and delivery cadence, balancing short-term and strategic needs.
• Oversee AWS infrastructure (Terraform) and platform components for scalability and reliability.
• Develop and retain engineers through clear goals, feedback, and career development.

📋 Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering management experience with at least 3 years leading teams of 5+ engineers on production data-intensive systems.
• Proven success building autonomous teams that own systems end-to-end from data ingestion to client APIs.
• Strong experience managing teams operating scalable data pipelines or ETL systems (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect).
• Hands-on background with Python backend systems (FastAPI, pandas/polars, SQLAlchemy) as IC or manager.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience managing teams building APIs in TypeScript/Node.js (NestJS, Express, GraphQL/Apollo).
• Familiarity with production ML systems (e.g., Prophet-based anomaly detection).
• Experience in commodities, energy, or fintech domains.
