💼 About This Role

You'll abstract fatal overdose data from death certificates and coroner reports into the SUDORS database for the NY State Department of Health. Your work directly supports overdose surveillance and prevention efforts. This role is part of the CDC Foundation's public health surge staffing program.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Manage submissions and workflow for the NYS Drug Overdose Report Submission Reimbursement Program
• Abstract data from death certificates and coroner/medical examiner reports into SUDORS
• Conduct data quality assurance activities and monitor enhanced toxicology testing status
• Attend SUDORS workgroup meetings and maintain coding guidance knowledge

📋 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public health, statistics, or related field
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Zoom
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Emotional resilience to handle potentially triggering data

✨ Nice to Have

• Associate's degree plus two years experience in data quality control (if no bachelor's)
• Working knowledge of SAS or other statistical analysis software
• Knowledge of medical coding and electronic medical record systems
