Description

You will join Monzo's Legal team to provide first-rate legal advice on business banking and merchant payments, working closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to build innovative banking products. You'll act autonomously on legal matters, help scale operations, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with significant post-qualification experience in financial services or fintech
• In-depth knowledge of UK banking regulation and payment services law
• Experience providing legal advice on business banking and merchant payments
• Ability to work autonomously and manage complex legal issues
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers to advise on legal matters for business banking and merchant payments
• Support operational and product changes for POS and online card payment acceptance
• Develop efficient ways of working to enable scaling while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance
• Provide training and knowledge sharing on legal and regulatory impacts
• Act as sole lawyer advising product teams, taking ownership and identifying legal issues proactively
