You'll own the full telemetry pipeline for a global constellation of smart weather balloons, optimizing every byte transmitted via satellite. Your work will directly impact data quality and operational cost as the fleet scales. This role spans firmware, server infrastructure, and operational tooling to squeeze maximum value from every transmission.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own the full telemetry cost model and fleet-wide communications spend
• Optimize onboard compression algorithms and transmission scheduling
• Monitor constellation telemetry health and catch regressions
• Build dashboards and alerting for telemetry cost and performance
• Collaborate with firmware and operations engineers on data needs

📋 Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in digital communications or data compression
• Systems-level thinking across firmware, networking, and backend
• Experience with constrained embedded communication systems
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++
• Data analysis skills for cost models from raw telemetry data

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with Iridium SBD or satellite modem protocols
• Background in aerospace, weather systems, or UAV operations
• RF systems knowledge
