Description

As a Staff AI/ML Engineer at Gusto, you will build AI/ML frameworks and infrastructure to enhance customer journeys. You'll develop and deploy models from proof-of-concept to production, solve complex business problems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• PhD with 3+ years or MS with 5+ years industry experience in applied ML/GenAI or data science
• Proven track record of deploying ML solutions in production from PoC to scalable systems
• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, C++, Java, or Scala; proficiency in SQL
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), MLOps, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Ability to translate business needs into AI-driven solutions and communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy AI/ML models for anomaly detection, personalization, generative AI, and algorithm optimization
• Transition models from PoC to production-ready solutions ensuring scalability and performance
• Review code, participate in pull requests, and maintain high-quality engineering standards
• Deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot ML services in containerized environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align solutions with business needs
