💼 About This Role

You'll join a small team building new products at Baseten, the platform powering mission-critical AI inference for companies like Cursor and Notion. You'll own ambiguous problems end-to-end: from API design to production operations with clear SLOs. This role offers exposure to a variety of ML startups and unparalleled learning opportunities.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Own and lead projects end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, and operations.
• Design ergonomic, developer-friendly APIs and abstractions for infrastructure capabilities.
• Build and operate reliable backend services with clear SLOs.
• Drive performance and reliability improvements through profiling and load testing.
• Mentor teammates through code reviews, design docs, and technical leadership.

📋 Requirements

• Proven track record owning low-latency, reliable services.
• Strong infrastructure instincts: observability, incident response, SLOs.
• Comfort working across the stack when needed.
• Strong written communication for design docs and cross-functional collaboration.
• Interest in AI/ML infrastructure and willingness to learn.

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with API gateways, service meshes, Kubernetes, or distributed scheduling.
• Experience building developer platforms: SDKs, CLIs, APIs, and self-serve workflows.
• Experience with inference platforms, LLM runtimes, or performance-sensitive systems.
• Familiarity with multi-tenant isolation patterns.
