Description

You will architect and build the WorkOS platform, the engine that deploys and manages autonomous AI agents at massive scale. As a founding backend engineer, you'll design scalable distributed systems, integrate AI agents into enterprise stacks, and establish engineering best practices in a fast-moving, startup-style environment within Careem.

Requirements

• 8-12+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Experience as Staff Engineer or Technical Lead
• Strong systems-thinking and distributed systems knowledge
• Proficiency with backend technologies (language not specified)
• Experience with AI/ML orchestration or agent-based systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services for AI workflow orchestration and real-time data streaming
• Establish backend best practices (CI/CD, observability, security, system integrity)
• Solve distributed complexity integrating AI agents into legacy enterprise stacks
• Design data infrastructure using relational, schemaless, and vector stores
• Own full lifecycle from rapid prototyping to production-grade systems
