💼 About This Role

You'll build state-of-the-art simulation environments for the Waymo Driver, modeling realistic agents, roads, and sensors using machine learning and traditional rendering. Your work will directly scale simulation capabilities to drive safe autonomous driving milestones. You'll report to a Senior Staff Engineering Manager and collaborate with onboard and research engineers.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Scale simulation with onboard and research engineers
• Support development and evolution of mapping data in simulator
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of simulator
• Design long-term architecture for increasing internal customers

📋 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend experience (workflows, databases, SQL, production monitoring)
• Strong C++ skills
• Hands-on experience building a popular product (internal or external-facing)

✨ Nice to Have

• Experience with release of software in highly distributed heterogeneous execution environment
• Experience with systems programming (game engines, database, OS, distributed)
• Experience with ML
