Description
You will be the technical anchor for Nubank's Credit Card platform, defining the long-term architecture and strategy to ensure scalability as the company expands globally. You'll collaborate with product and business leadership to shape the technical roadmap, lead complex system transformations, and mentor other engineers, directly enabling millions of customers to access financial products via credit cards worldwide.
Requirements
- Principal/Staff Engineer level experience or equivalent with history of architecting and scaling mission-critical, high-volume, low-latency systems in global fintech or e-commerce.
- Expert proficiency in multiple programming paradigms with significant hands-on experience in functional programming (Clojure, Scala, Haskell) and reactive/event-based architectures.
- Proven ability to establish and lead long-term technical strategy for entire platform ecosystems, influencing multiple engineering groups.
- Deep experience navigating architecture in highly regulated financial environments (BACEN, FCA, SOX) and designing systems for data residency and cross-border transactions.
- History of successfully leading large-scale platform transformations (e.g., monolith to microservices, cloud/data center migration) managing risks and operational impact.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term vision and strategy for global architecture of core credit card platform, ensuring scalability and continuous evolution.
- Lead strategic partnership with Product and Business leadership to shape medium/long-term technical roadmap and define OKRs and KPIs.
- Act as technical and cultural reference, mentoring Architects and Principal/Staff Engineers, fostering innovation and accountability.
- Lead and resolve ambitious technical challenges, intervening in critical performance or resilience bottlenecks with multi-system and multi-country impact.
- Design and oversee complex system transformations (e.g., core banking migrations, legacy platform replacement) ensuring regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
