💼 About This Role

You'll take ownership of critical backend systems in the Stream Governance product portfolio that underpin Confluent's data streaming platform. You'll lead the design and delivery of large-scale, distributed services that must be secure, highly available, and easy to operate across regions and clouds. You'll act as a technical leader, mentoring engineers and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to ship high-impact work.

🎯 What You'll Do

• Develop and architect the cloud-native Stream Governance platform.
• Own end-to-end design and implementation of complex backend services.
• Drive projects from requirements through rollout and production operation.
• Make architecture decisions balancing reliability, scalability, and performance.

📋 Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience designing and scaling backend systems in production.
• Deep proficiency in at least one major backend programming language (Java, Go, C/C++, or Python).
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems such as event-driven architectures or high-throughput services.
• Strong experience running production services in a public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) with containerized workloads.

• Experience building or operating mission-critical, multi-tenant, or multi-region services.
• Familiarity with data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka or Flink.
• Contributions to open source, technical writing, or speaking.
