Description

You will partner with customers to design, prototype, and deliver solutions on the Mapbox platform, working directly with customers and account teams to discover needs and design architectures. You'll apply expertise in GIS, spatial data, and location intelligence to solve customer problems and deliver innovative automotive experiences. This role combines technical depth with commercial acumen at the intersection of strategy, architecture, and delivery.

Requirements

• 8+ years in solutions architecture, customer-facing engineering (pre-sales, post-sales), or consulting
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
• Fluent in Korean and English (both written and verbal communication)
• Must reside in Japan or South Korea
• Proven experience with GIS, location intelligence, and geospatial data
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex requirements into scalable, robust architectures
• Strong business acumen and comfort working autonomously across distributed teams
• Experience responding to RFQs/RFIs with clear technical documentation and solution proposals
• Experience collaborating with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers
• Familiarity with vehicle data telemetry, map delivery, over-the-air update workflows, and automotive lifecycle processes
• Experience with real-time systems, embedded development environments, automotive cloud connectivity, automotive software stacks, E/E architectures, and middleware integration
• Proficiency in web and mobile technologies (Required: JavaScript; Highly desirable: Swift, Kotlin, Python; Desirable: React Native, Flutter)
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP; certification is a plus)
• Experience with back-end APIs and front-end SDKs in geospatial and mobility domains
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and executive audiences
• Willingness to travel up to 25% for customer meetings, workshops, and industry events

Responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives to position Mapbox’s technical value and shape opportunities
• Lead technical discovery to understand customer goals, requirements, and success criteria
• Design and present scalable architectures using Mapbox SDKs, APIs, and platform services
• Build and deliver proof-of-concept solutions that demonstrate measurable customer value
• Apply expertise in GIS, spatial data, and location intelligence to solve customer problems
• Advocate for customer needs and provide structured feedback to influence product direction
• Stay current on mapping, mobility, and AI technologies and share best practices
• Collaborate with OEMs, Tier-1s, and partners on navigation, ADAS, connected vehicles, and SDV
• Design architectures for real-time telemetry, dynamic routing, and EV solutions
• Integrate Mapbox into embedded systems and in-vehicle platforms
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver innovative automotive experiences
