Description

You will own the Android platform powering Caper's in-store retail technology, ensuring 99.9% uptime and reliability. You'll design and harden connectivity layers (MQTT, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth), integrate payment terminal workflows, and modernize Android architecture. This role offers the chance to solve complex systems problems and mentor senior engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• 8+ years Android development experience using Kotlin, Coroutines/Flows, Jetpack
• Hands-on expertise with edge-device networking (MQTT, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) and production observability
• Proven experience integrating hardware peripherals on Android (payment terminals, sensors)
• Ability to drive cross-team initiatives and mentor engineers
• Proficiency with modern Android architecture (multi-module, DI, Gradle, CI/CD)

Responsibilities

• Own reliability and performance for Android platform powering Caper devices
• Design and harden connectivity layers including MQTT, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, offline-first sync
• Integrate and secure payment terminal workflows (EMV/contactless)
• Optimize real-time data pipelines for sensors and peripherals (barcode, weight, camera, RFID)
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives and mentor senior engineers
